ABOUT MANGO GALLERYAs a native South African now residing in the United States, I want to share the opportunities I found here (in the U.S.) with my fellow Africans. Growing up during Apartheid, not knowing when the next meal would come, being relegated to a specific neighborhood, school, and hospital, my family was accustomed to a life of struggle. This, for us, was normal. I was very fortunate to graduate from high school and get a job. After working seven days a week for four years, I earned enough money to become an au pair for an American family. It wasn't until I came to The States, that I truly grasped the severity of the poverty in South Africa. |
