ABOUT MANGO GALLERY

As a native South African now residing in the United States, I want to share the opportunities I found here (in the U.S.) with my fellow Africans. Growing up during Apartheid, not knowing when the next meal would come, being relegated to a specific neighborhood, school, and hospital, my family was accustomed to a life of struggle. This, for us, was normal. I was very fortunate to graduate from high school and get a job. After working seven days a week for four years, I earned enough money to become an au pair for an American family. It wasn't until I came to The States, that I truly grasped the severity of the poverty in South Africa.

Despite the many sacrifices I made during my journey here, I am grateful for the perspective they have granted me. I have met so many generous people who have opened doors for me that I now want to follow their lead. Mango Gallery is my opportunity to share the beauty of Africa through its people and their art. This website presents the art work of talented but poverty stricken Africans. I hope that by bringing their art into your home, office, and lives, we can give these artists a fighting chance to feed, clothe, educate and house their families.
